The thyroid gland is butterfly shaped and resides in your neck, right about where the knot of a man’s tie would be located.
This gland produces two types of hormones and these hormones are vital to the function of all parts of your body.
Abnormalities of the thyroid gland usually cause over- or underproduction of thyroid hormone or abnormal growth of the gland itself or both.
At “Endocrinologist”, we work closely with both you and your primary care provider so that everyone involved has the information they need to create the best outcomes. We deal with both Hyperthyroidism and Hypothyroidism.
Both under and over production of the thyroid hormone causes problems in your body. Close examination of the issues will help to determine the source of the problem and help to define the most appropriate treatment needed for balancing these hormones.
After diagnosing thyroid problem and our doctor will work with you to create a treatment plan.
Our thyroid services include:
* Thyroid nodules
* Thyroid cancer
Frequently, issues which involve the thyroid are not clearly defined. A TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) blood test may be able to gauge the level of thyroid hormone present.
All symptoms and blood test are then evaluated by an endocrinologist – who may also recommend an ultrasound or scan of the thyroid gland. Thyroid disorders can be treated by medications or, in some cases, surgery.
Treatment will depend on the particular disease of the thyroid. Thyroid disorders can be managed with treatment and are not life threatening.
The thyroid gland is continually replacing hormones that are being used by the body – to maintain the proper functioning of metabolism.
