Additional Features

With all the added features stuffed into lesser films, the casual fan of Labyrinth is likely to wonder what is so special about this "Collector's Edition Boxed Set." To the huge fan or collector, the added bonuses will likely satisfy. The audio has been significantly enhanced from 2.0 Surround to 5.1 Surround, and there's a new focus on the artistic elements: over 100 images, a vintage poster gallery, six artist Brian Froud sketch cards, a limited composite cel, and a collector's booklet showcasing Jim Henson and Froud's vision and creativity. The featurette, "Inside the Labyrinth," was also on the original DVD release, however, and one would think Columbia TriStar could have added archival interviews or a commentary to really raise the "collectibility bar." --Rob Bracco
